  • Both applicants must be at least 18 year of age.

    An emancipation order is required for an applicant under the age of 18.

    Both applicants must be present.

    Applicants must have valid driver's license, state issued identification, passport or certified copy of birth certificate.

    "The marriage ceremony may not take place during a 72-hour period immediately following the issuance of the marriage license unless an applicant is a member of the Armed Forces of the United States and on active duty or a Judge waives the 72-hour waiting period for good cause. See SEC. 2.204, V.T.C.A. Family Code"

    The fee for a marriage license is $82.00. With a Twogether in Texas Certificate, the marriage license fee is $22.00. For Twogether in Texas Certificate information, visit the Twogether in Texas website.

     

    An Informal Marriage (Common Law) fee is $46.00. Requirements are the same as a formal marriage, except for requiring the date when you began living together as a married couple.  

     

    HIV/AIDS Information
    Texas county clerks are required to provide marriage license applicants with information about HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). More information about HIV and AIDS can be found at www.dshs.state.tx.us/hivstd/info/hiv/
